HENRY training courses
HENRY offers a variety of courses and opportunities for individuals, teams and organisations. The training is practical, interactive, reflective, flexible and fun, and explores effective ways of working with parents both in adopting a healthy lifestyle and in parent support more generally. Participants are provided with a toolkit of imaginative resources to augment their work. For those working directly with babies and preschool children, support and encouragement is provided to help them develop an environment that is more resilient to obesogenic influences.
Group facilitation training
The 2-day group facilitation course has been designed for practitioners who wish to develop their group facilitation skills and offer the 8-week Let’s Get Healthy with HENRY programme to parents and carers. To take part in this training, participants must have already attended the core training course.
Let's Get Healthy with HENRY
This 8-week programme has been designed to cover the key lifestyle areas with groups of parents and carers. Each session begins with family time and young children are then cared for while parents/carers explore the topic of the week. Participants receive the HENRY toolkit and supporting materials.
Training for trainers course
Training is now available to organisations who wish to offer HENRY training more widely. This is a rigorous scheme for individuals who are already experienced in facilitative training, and who have additional experience in the Family Partnership Approach and /or solution focused support.
The training process involves observing HENRY courses, a 2-day training for trainers to practise delivery skills, co-leading with an experienced HENRY trainer, a supervised training to assess readiness and on-going support.
Refresher courses, supervision and support
Lifestyle change and obesity are difficult and sensitive areas, and practitioners and trainers value the opportunity to attend top-up sessions to review their skills and address challenges.
