Our Best Start with HENRY team in the London Borough of Waltham Forest works to improve health outcomes for young children and to reduce health and social inequalities by providing access to early intervention and prevention in key areas; early feeding, nutrition, healthy weight, oral health and speech and language.
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Dietician to lead our integrated Healthy Families team as part of this over-arching service. The service works closely with Lloyd Park children’s centres, the Early Help’ team and a wide range of local partners to provide high-quality support to families with young children. The team provides training for early years’ settings, health professionals and others.
This is a community based, tier 2 service under the ‘Thresholds of Need’ supporting families with children aged 0-5 who have additional needs that can be met through the provision of early help and without the need for support from higher complex services or social care.
Healthy Weight & Oral Health Team Lead (4 or 5 days per week - please state preferred hours)
£32,016 - £36,055 fulltime equivalent, plus up to 6% pension contribution
You will be a Band 6 or equivalent Dietician with a strong background in dietetics, health and wellbeing. Knowledge of family support services and early years’ settings is desirable, together with experience of working with families to promote healthy lifestyle messages to families with children under 5. An empathic, strengths-based and partnership approach to working with parents and families is essential to provide consistent and effective support to families. You will lead a small staff team comprising nutritionists, healthy families’ practitioners and volunteer mentors as part of a wider service to ensure the best start for families. Services include delivery of family and antenatal programmes, workshop sessions and drop-ins, support to early years’ settings and training for professionals.
