Make a donation to support our Cooking for a Better Start programme

As part of our work in Bradford, we run a popular cooking skills programme - Cooking for a Better Start - that empowers parents and carers to cook healthy meals for their families. Families are going hungry due to spiralling food costs. A lack of confidence in cooking or a lack of cooking skills acts as a barrier to parents preparing meals in the home. But home-cooked meals would allow families to maximise their limited funds.

Over six weeks, our programme covers food groups, health and safety in the kitchen, portion sizes, healthy food swaps, label reading, and planning and shopping. The programme also includes opportunities for practical cooking, as well as a recipe book to keep.

To support our work, we are seeking funding to provide ingredients for parents and carers to take home so that they can recreate the recipes they have learned during our sessions for their families. A gift of £15 would provide the ingredients for two meals for a family taking part in our programme
