Healthy Start Vouchers and Migrant Families
Important Information about Healthy Start Vouchers
The Department for Health and Social Care has extended the Healthy Start scheme to UK children whose families have the condition of no recourse to public funds. This change has come into place following a successful legal challenge and is effective immediately.
This means that the department has temporarily extended the Healthy Start scheme to children (under 4 years), whose parent/guardian are excluded from claiming public funds as a consequence of their immigration status.
If you are not receiving public funds, think you qualify for the temporary extension and you meet all the below criteria:
- you have one or more children from birth up until their 4th birthday
- your family’s take-home pay is less than £408 per month; and
- your immigration status includes the condition that you cannot access public funds
Please email Healthystartclaim@dhsc.gov.uk stating you believe you qualify and they will be in touch to discuss the application process. If you need support in submitting your application, please discuss this with your local health visitor, midwife or children’s centre team.
