10 Years of HENRY: Celebrating a Decade of Supporting Families for a Healthy Start

UPDATED 4th July 2025.

In 2018, HENRY reached a significant milestone: 10 years of supporting families to give their children the best start in life. Over the past decade, we’ve worked with thousands of parents and carers, health professionals and community partners to improve the health and wellbeing of babies and young children across the UK.

To mark this special occasion, we held two inspiring events that brought together many of the people who have helped shape HENRY’s journey.

A Special Reception at the House of Lords

On 26 November, Baroness Royall kindly hosted a celebratory evening reception at the House of Lords. The event welcomed a wide range of people who have been part of HENRY’s story, from commissioners and academic partners to health practitioners, volunteers, funders and parents.

One of the most powerful moments of the evening came from moving testimonials shared by parents and carers. These personal stories reminded us of the real-life impact that HENRY programmes have on families, supporting stronger relationships, healthier lifestyles and brighter futures.

‘Stepping Up for a Healthy Start’ Conference

The following day, HENRY partnered with First Steps Nutrition Trust to host a national conference ‘Stepping up for a healthy start’ on how we can step up efforts to give every child a healthy start in life.

More than 240 health and early years professionals attended the event, which focused on four key areas:

  • Oral health
  • Physical activity
  • Healthy weight
  • Nutrition

The conference featured speakers and exhibitors from across the sector, including Best Beginnings, the Institute for Health Visiting, and The Breastfeeding Network. It was an energising day of learning, sharing and building connections, all centred around improving outcomes for babies, children and families.

Looking to the Future

As we celebrate all that has been achieved over the last 10 years, we’re equally excited about what’s ahead. HENRY remains deeply committed to:

  • Giving every child a healthy, happy start in life
  • Supporting families through practical, compassionate programmes
  • Strengthening early years systems through training, partnerships, and local delivery

Thank you to everyone who has supported HENRY, whether through funding, partnership, volunteering, or simply spreading the word. Together, we’re building a healthier future for the next generation.
