Starting Solids: New HENRY Workshop Supports Families on Their Baby’s Food Journey

UPDATED 4th July 2025.

Introducing solid foods is a key stage in a baby’s ongoing journey with food, alongside breast milk and/or infant formula. To support families during this time, HENRY has launched a new one-off Starting Solids workshop, already welcomed by families as timely, practical and reassuring.

“The perfect support at exactly the right moment.”  – Parent attending Starting Solids

Why This Stage Matters

Evidence shows that starting solids alongside milk feeds can support healthy food preferences, reduce fussy eating and lower the risk of childhood obesity.

But with so much conflicting advice, many parents and carers feel unsure about how and when to begin. This workshop offers simple, evidence-based guidance in a supportive and relaxed setting, led by trained HENRY facilitators.

What the Workshop Covers

In just one session, families will:

  • Learn when and how to introduce solids alongside milk
  • Understand what healthy eating looks like for babies at this stage
  • Explore signs of readiness and baby-led cues
  • Get tips on portion sizes, mealtime routines and reducing stress
  • Learn how to model positive eating habits from the start

The workshop includes engaging resources, like a "taste journey" sticker chart, to help make exploring new foods fun for both baby and family.
